Alexandra Otieva

France  • 1980

Alexandra Otieva is a Russian-born French artist who has achieved international acclaim as a talented watercolor artist with a unique and vibrant personality.

Member of the Union of Artists of Russia and Member of the International Association of Fine Arts AIAP UNESCO of the Union of Artists of Monaco.

She works in wet watercolor, one of the most difficult techniques in painting. In this technique, one expects to see paintings in small format, but Alexandra's canvases can reach a size of more than 1 meter.

It should be noted that the artist does not use white and black colors in his work.

She has over 300 works in her portfolio.

His paintings are both in private collections in Moscow, Paris, Nice, Monaco, Montreux, Vladivostok, New York and many other cities around the world, and are present in museums, the latter in AS Pushkin in Moscow. She is the winner of numerous exhibitions and competitions.

Watercolor is a capricious and stubborn technique that does not reveal to everyone the secrets of understanding the material. Moreover, the circle of his admirers is even larger. And the circle of artists who possess the secrets of the technique, which gives light like breath, transparent strokes and blurs, thin silhouette lines, is not very large.

The first impression of his work is an emotional attitude towards a bright perception of the world. The slight sadness of a weak autumn day, the celebration of a snowy Russian winter, the feeling of the materiality of the world, hidden in the vine, the sunflowers, the mother-of-pearl shells, the shiny sides of the samovar... alongside this, Alexandra's works have a lot of expression and vivid colors, which sets her works apart from traditional watercolors, which in the viewer's opinion have mostly pastel colors. In the landscape series, the decorative effect becomes secondary. Here, the mood dominates, which is an obligatory component of the watercolor landscape.

Emotional breadth and versatility are the main quality not only of watercolors, but also of the author.
