“Shades of blue sweep across the artworks of Gesa Reuter as she paints landscapes, seas, skies, and clouds to convey the beauty of nature and how it connects to emotions of the soul. The ultramarine pigments hold particular importance to the artist, as she uses their symbolic qualities to represent wisdom, loneliness, sadness and also great beauty in the world.

Recently for her series “Blue Worlds”, she has discovered the power of watercolours and ink in her work. Enjoying the way the lightness of the materials can convey her inner feelings in the moment of experiencing the landscape.” (from: Inside Artists, Issue 9)

“Blue Lake” is signed on the back, framed, and is ready to hang. The sides remain slightly visible in its floating frame (silver): white with traces of the painting process.

Gesa Reuter

Germany Born in: 1964

Abstract landscape artist Gesa Reuter lives and works in Detmold, Northern Germany. Throughout her adult life, she has enjoyed arts education (workshops, courses, artists in resident programs etc) by a variety of professional artists from the Berlin University of the Arts, the VBK Berlin, the Art Academy Augsburg, and the College of Art and Design (Petersburg).

Inspired by Mark Rothko, Gesa's colours are usually applied in many fluid layers with mixed media. The many layers forming the painting, are similar to life itself. Reuter: “Each layer of experiences, adds depth to our personality. Good or bad, light or shadow. Most of my abstract landscapes are connected to my inner feelings and emotions, along with landscapes I've experienced. Sometimes there are bright blue worlds, sometimes many grey shades. Regardless, you will find a trace of light in all my paintings., as that means hope and future to me."
