About the artwork
Artwork sold in perfect condition
The first period
Greek painter, born in 1958 in Patras. He was professionally active in various industries, such as fashion and culinary sales. From a very early age, he showed a great interest in painting and finally followed this artistic path, being very active in the period 1983 to 1988. He started painting as a child and was independently trained, learning from famous painters. In 1985, Dimitris Mitaras, Dean of the Athens School of Fine Arts, was impressed by his artistic flair and asked him to attend the School, as a special talent. At that time he had already developed other activities and that did not allow him to pursue his dream. Dimitris Mitaras, understanding his increased obligations, gave him the unique privilege of tutoring him at his free time, from 1985 to 1987.
The second period
From 1988 to 2017, he abstained from increased painting activity. In this period, his painting passion was only expressed during his free time. His of absence from professional painting in this period, perhaps hindered the recognition he truly deserved. In 2017 he makes a powerful comeback and is now passionately devoted to his great love!
The comeback
His comeback in 2017 was unexpectedly positive. In a very short time, he received many proposals from art venues, galleries, museums and municipalities to present his unique works and technique, inspired by Greek seascapes and the landscape. In 2018 he participated, with great success, in group exhibitions held - in chronological order - in Patras, Thessaloniki, Athens, Patras.
In the summer of 2018, he held a solo exhibition in Spetses island, where his works were sold to art collectors and lovers. For 2019, solo and group exhibitions have been scheduled, both in Greece and abroad.
The technique
He uses both oil and mixed paints. His inexhaustible theme triggers emotions in viewers, mainly with reference to nature, the Greek landscape and the sea. His paintings, created using brushes and palette knives, express modern, contemporary, free and decisive movements, influenced by impressionism, yet with an expressionistic twist. Without always avoiding contours, but often with an abstract predisposition, he prefers to guide the view and perception of viewers, through intense colour correlations and an entirely personal style.
The unique relationship he develops on the canvas with the colours, techniques and materials is shaped a lyricism, which is the result of the religious devotion that Sokratis Evgenidis has found in the unwritten rules of this exquisite art. In the period 1983 - 1988, he participated in several solo and group exhibitions. In 1985, he was awarded, in a national painting competition, in Piraeus, as best, younger, talented painter in Greece. His paintings can be found in art venues, hotels and private collections.
