  • About the artwork

    Artwork sold in perfect condition

In line with action painting and abstract expressionism, Pierre-Luc Poujol chooses to paint by projection and dripping. He thus confronts the nothingness of the canvas by seeking to project order and meaning, with the tenacious desire to explore and discover new territories. If aesthetics and retinal emotion prevail in his painting, the artist gives a preponderant place to symbolism. Pierre-Luc Poujol leaves geometric abstraction for a moment, for a lyrical soaring towards a pure and free projection.

Back from Giverny, the artist revisits the Water Lilies so dear to Claude Monet and offers us a spectacular, shimmering and energetic reinterpretation. We are in the living, in the present moment, in sensuality. Projections, spots of color that collide on the canvas with precision and balance. The further we move away from the work, the more we dive into the artist's universe. The journey can begin. An immersion in the heart of nature, of plants, with its reliefs, its always balanced disorder and above all an extremely controlled play of light and shadow. Because it is indeed through light that colors are born with Pierre-Luc Poujol, as with Monet. His works are an invitation to escape, to spirituality, to beauty. The painter's enthusiasm and talent provoke real emotion in us. A beautiful tribute to one of the masters of Impressionism.

The works from this collection were exhibited at the Paul Valéry Museum in Sète in 2020. The Museum has acquired works by the artist for its permanent collection.
