Purple Paintings for Sale
This is the color of a Prince, the “purple rain". In 2018, purple was named Pantone color of the year. Did you know that the purple hue originally came from a rare shell: the murex. Then, in the course of art history, violet paint was sometimes called purple, sometimes described as mauve. Andy Warhol used ultraviolet in his Pop Art series. The Impressionists were struck by "violettomania". Francis Bacon darkened his paintings with violet. Today, street artist Okuda likes to spread it on the walls and Carlos Cruz-Diez makes it the colour of illusion.
