  • About the artwork

    Artwork sold in perfect condition

Patrick Lajoie’s unique image transfer works are infused with a warmth in both hue and texture, created by the golden cast of the wood as well as the delicate wood grain apparent beneath paler areas of pigment. To create these works the artist employs a hands-on process that causes the pigments (or image) from an archival print to transfer to the surface of a wood panel. Although, he has refined his method to achieve excellent transfer results, this process retains a slightly imperfect quality that is intrinsic to the technique and can be seen primarily in a softness around the edges of the image. Finished works are sealed with a hand brushed and buffed artist’s wax. Each work is signed and numbered by the artist on back.

Patrick Lajoie

Canada Born in: 1969

Fine art photographer Patrick Lajoie is known for his evocative travel documentary images that impart a sense of nostalgia and remembrance. His creative practice encompasses his passions for photography, composition, color and experimentation. Commonly recurring themes such as beaches and bathing scenes, vintage cars and surfing, are chosen as much for their reflection of the artist's personal interests as for their ability to channel collective memories and a spirit of adventure. Rather than being planned or staged his images are primarily discovery driven and rely on frequent travels in search of the elusive chance combination of the right subject matter, location, lighting and compositional potential. His work is regularly exhibited at major international art fairs and is held in private and corporate collections worldwide, including a permanent six panel installation by Delta Airlines at Los Angeles International Airport.
