He chose to present for this exhibition a series of very strange photos featuring very curious vegetable lamps. At first sight, one could believe that it is about the photographic restitution of designer lamps, created with an extreme realism, so as to reproduce various plants in a translucent material, a little like the famous art deco lamps in glass or crystal created by Emile Gallé 140 years ago…
But no. The realism of these lamps is too dazzling to be merely artefactual. After investigation, it turns out that they are in fact made up of real vegetables, all planted and pushed into the ground, and all posing for a photo, so as to look like a lamp, with the addition of a foot and a light bulb! Amazing, right?
