Hannibal Renberg

France Born in: 1970

Hannibal Renberg was born and lives in Paris, has a degree in psychology and enjoys observing the absurdities of the city and the diversity of the individuals that make it up while seeking to bring out their uniqueness. He practiced film photography for a long time but now only uses his mobile phone. It is by posting on Instagram that he discovers the enthusiasm that his photos arouse. The artist captures only street scenes and is considered one of the four essential instigators of street photography in the ranking of Forbes magazine. He is a "pedestrian" who walks in the city, generally in Paris or Marseille, armed with his iPhone, patiently waiting to be able to take unexpected scenes, the poetic or even the grotesque of everyday life.

His photographs are generally in black and white and combine the absurd and comical, as well as poetry and emotion.

Even if many professional photographers argue that the authors of mobile photographs cannot be considered as full-fledged photographers, Hannibal Renberg tends to show the opposite. To be a photographer is to have a photographic eye. The artist comes from generation 2.0, he grew up in the digital world and evolves with the tools of his time. He produces Iphoneography and manages to capture the right angles, beautiful attitudes, the pose. He captures the elusive, what the eye can't see, details passers-by don't pay attention to: "I particularly like to capture the contrast between advertising posters and ordinary people," he explains. His photos find their essence in the gaze that the spectator gives them, they are only the simple reflection of our society.

He exhibits between Marseille and Paris.
