About the artwork
Artwork sold in perfect condition
After a diploma in advertising photography, Harry Fayt follows a professional course that takes him to portraiture. At first he photographed musicians thanks to whom he studied the physiognomy of emotions. Then he turns to photography of births and newborns. Ultimately, it is the baby swimmers who will be his rite of passage to the other world, that of underwater photography.
In 2012, it was with singer-songwriter Tiph Barrow that he returned to his first love, the portrait of artists… underwater. Rich in this singularity, he begins a multitude of interpretations and encounters and creates new images in which he likes to push the boundaries of a world that he has invented for himself. Always with the same objective: to question, surprise and re-invent one's field of possibility.
A bit like a director would, the photographer is on the lookout for the slightest inspiration, imagines staging, develops a scenario. “I dive into my reservoir of ideas, I note all the possibilities that are presented to me. As soon as I think of something, I list it in my iPhone: a photo, a crush in a museum, a current event. "
I have a whole team with me: a make-up artist, one or two divers, an assistant ... These are real small productions that can take several days. I invest myself completely, develop the sets and assemble them with my collaborators who also ensure underwater to reassure the models and their safety. "
Represented by several galleries in Belgium, France and internationally, Harry Fayt is enjoying growing success.
