The image we propose is part of the project “Hidden Art”.
It talks about hidden art in the Museum Store Rooms, based on the conviction that Art, in this case Photography, consists of a mean of communication of the art experience and cultural heritage, able to capture the heart and sensibilities of the observer.
The Hidden Art Project presents itself as a show in which the viewer is completely immersed in history of the culture and the human efforts that created it.
The Project began in 2006 thanks to the photographic research initiated by Marco Lanza in the various museum storage deposits, archaeological sites and conservation institutes of Italian heritage.
Starting from 2008 Marco Lanza was joined in this work by Luca Farulli in the role of curator of the project.
The unique characteristic of this photographic work by Marco Lanza lies in its capacity to create atmosphere and colors of the Repositories thank to the use of the language of Photography. The high quality of the artistic images, realized in this way, does not only reproduce a physical space defined as a repository, but also evokes the intimacy of the space and the atmosphere of meditation and study which is typical of the secret places in museums that are not usually accessible to the public.
The objects represented in this way acquire a magical value and the repository presents itself through an emotional force as a different state of being.
The project has been exhibited on various occasions: in Florence at Villa Bardini (2016/01, 23th – 2016/02, 21st); in Milan, at the National Museum of Science and technology “Leonardo Da Viinci” (2016/07, 05th - 2016/10, o9th) during the ICOM Summit; in Bologna at the Art Center “CUBO-Unipol-Sai” (2016/10, 18th – 2017/01, 14th).
To accompany the Project there is a book ”Depositi. Immagini dei Musei Italiani” 144 pag., , in both English and Italian, published in 2016 by “Gli Ori”.
