Media: Resin, glitter, ink and wood

This set contains three intricate, 100% hand made, resin sculptures by Betsy Enzensberger. “Floral 17", "Floral 20", and "Floral 9". Of this series of popsicles, the artist has written

"The "Floral" series was something I began a few years back. Recently, I had a collector request a sculpture with several floral popsicles. Each imitation flower was submerged in a fine clear resin and then embellished with crystals. The rounded corners of the sculpture created a very cool warping of the flowers, while the crystals added another dimension of sparkle and color. After I made them, I was in awe over their beauty. I realized right then and there that I should revive the project once a year in a limited series of only 20."

Each sculpture is unique and cannot be exactly replicated. They are all signed and dated on the bottom.

American artist Betsy Enzensberger has become well known for her realistic, larger-than-life sculptures of dripping, frozen treats and other sweet-toothed delights.

Resin looks like candy. It looks delicious and sweet. The shiny exterior has a wet, melting quality. Her Melting series relies on the childlike lure of sweet, sticky lollipops and popsicles to artificially instill intense desire. The colorful confections practically beg to be rescued and consumed. Bringing the kitsch, pop art theme to the 3D realm, her sculptures have a tangible, irresistible quality that delight the onlooker.

“Resin – I love it. It’s beautiful, sexy, mysterious. It’s also toxic, messy, and extremely labour intensive to sculpt. There’s just something about it I can’t resist. I dream about it. I want to touch it. I want to eat it.”

Care: Dust with air or wipe with a damp cloth. Resin will become soft when hot and brittle when cold. Please keep your sculptures inside, as sun can damage the materials.

Buy this set of three popsicles together and save 10% on the asking price of the individual works. This is a great way to begin a collection of these gorgeous works.

ARTIST STATEMENT

“Resin – I love it. It's beautiful, sexy, mysterious. There's just something about it I can't resist. I dream about it. I want to touch it. I want to eat it."

"I currently sculpt larger-than-life melted treats, such as Ice Cream Cones, Lollipops and Popsicles. Recently, I added a series of bananas to the mix too. Everything is made from cast resin, which is medium that I discovered about 10 years ago. (Before that I was a painter, but that's old news.) Once I got my hands on this mysterious new material it was instant love.

Someone asked me recently why I love resin so much. I mean, it's messy, toxic and notoriously difficult to use. The challenge is what interests me. Overcoming obstacles, making mistakes then fixing them, being challenged by environmental conditions, injuries, studio disasters. These are all daily occurrences. In the end, I'm left with this beautiful, nostalgic, colorful, glittery sculpture. It's a love affair."
