Mariela Soldano

Uruguay • 1972

Rhizomatic and chameleon-like, my art activates perception and expands the experience of life.

Biography

She studied design in Buenos Aires, where she started her career as an independent designer, working on various projects. She started to produce objects after intervening in vintage furniture. At the end of 2013, she moved to Uruguay, closing the chapter of her career as an interior designer in order to devote herself exclusively to visual arts. She participated in Casa Berro's workshops and then joined José María Pelayo's workshop. She studied contemporary art, history, and online curatorship at various Latin American institutions. In 2017, she started teaching a course for participants of the plastic arts workshop at Taller Malvin. She currently exhibits her work in galleries in La Barra, Punta del Este and José Ignacio. In 2015, she entered the French Alliance of Montevideo's call for contemporary art, and was selected to exhibit her 'Tribute to Music' exhibition at the Argentine Consulate in Punta del Este. One of her pieces was exhibited at Carrasco International Airport and another travelled to the most important art fair in France at the Carrousel du Louvre in October 2016. In 2017, she was invited to participate in the New York Art Fair.
