Painter, writer, engraver, sculptor, Zwy Milshtein transcends borders. His itinerary begins in 1934 in Chișinău, current capital of the Republic of Moldova, where he has the opportunity to return in 2000 and 2008, followed by a crossing of Europe upset by terrors. If the artist recognizes that this period of wandering is at the center of his imagination, he knew how to dress it in a renewed form by crossing artistic genres, techniques, rules, approaches, materials, dimensions, under the sign of permanent curiosity and a constant need to surprise and innovate. Combining the tragic and the comic, the nostalgic and the ironic, all with a touch of humor and freedom, the artist succeeds in taking revenge for the fragility of the human condition, being in this a source of reference for the younger generations. . I would like to thank everyone who has invested in the preparation of this exhibition, which will travel next year to the Republic of Moldova, on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the birth of Zwy Milshtein. It is through an exhibition inspired by the legends of the East and by its roots, the memory of which has remained forever etched in the memory of the artist, that we want to pay him our homage today.
