Presentation

The most impactful art in the world is born from the expression of an internal struggle. Jason Dussault wielded the power of this understanding and channeled this energy through nostalgic iconography. With an artistic rage that lives beneath his perception, Jason creates an homage to one of the most primitive yet connected mediums in art history, the mosaic.

Combining vintage tile, paint, grout, resin and porcelain, Jason has reimagined a 4,000-year-old craft that spawned masterpieces and made it his own. A true labor of love, Jason's pieces are created in a two to four week process that he navigates on his own, without assistants or interns. His dedication, curiosity and sacrifice culminated in humility, the true mark of an artist. The mix of creativity and philosophy has earned Jason a place in the Hoerle-Guggenheim gallery, where his works are currently displayed alongside famous innovators such as Picasso, Dali, Warhol and the famous street artist Retna.

As we gain experience, the world becomes less mysterious, as we have more and more eyes behind the veil. Jason has recreated subjects from his past to help bring back the magic, excitement and hope that fueled his youth. The culmination of symbolism and raw material transforms Jason's pieces from one-dimensional objects into works that resonate with us on a visceral level.

After spending over a decade in the financial sector, Jason rekindled his passion for art while living in the historic Republic of Malta. He now divides his time between New York and his hometown of Vancouver: one offers unparalleled variety and vibrancy, the other: a place of natural wonder and beauty, creating a perfect balance of influence upon which he can draw. A dichotomized resource of energy that allows Jason to show us the strata of the world through the scope of our youth. Applied in a medium that forces us to understand our true fragility, Jason's mosaic work becomes a mirror image of life itself.
