Presentation

Joëlle Dollé works in Paris in her studio workshop. It was in 1998 that she decided to devote herself entirely to photography, after ten years spent in an advertising agency as artistic director. She chooses to put her experience at the service of her values. The photo was his language, his memory, it became his writing. Portraitist, his artistic approach is a work on human nature and the nature of life in its most beautiful. His gaze calls out to oneself, to our relationship to others and to nature. Through the subjects that are close to her heart, she seeks to break down certain barriers so as to see only the natural harmony present in each and every situation. His work is regularly exhibited.

In 1995, she began with animals, observing and photographing their ways of living and being between them, in their environment. From black and white shots reworked with color, she creates a graphic style and designs a collection of books for children, like little tales entitled "Histoire de Voir" published by Mango Jeunesse. With the coup de coup de la Fnac and the price of the incorruptibles, it presents its books in schools throughout France.

In 1998, she started family portraits, a black and white series, on a white backdrop, stripped bare, stripped of all artifice. She wonders about the harmony of the family unit, how everyone takes their place. In her research on identity and behavior, she went to Brittany for two years in a row to photograph the twins during their gatherings. A series of 60 portraits.

And for several years, she moved into the street with her canvas in the background. She produces black and white frontal portraits of all those who wanted to play the game of face-to-face, beyond social masks. It continues this principle for municipalities that hold major exhibitions with portraits of the inhabitants of their cities. During this period she created a photo library of ethical portraits “Reelportrait".

In 2008, she began to deal with social issues: “Positive or negative" exhibited in partnership with AIDES, portraits in duets which challenge our gaze in the face of people with HIV.

"SAS AFDAEIM" a series that highlights the personality and temperament of people with intellectual disabilities, a series exhibited at the Grande Arche de la Défense, and in certain events related to disability.

She started the series "Vegetables and Men". Ninety portraits that she will realize over four years, mixing personalities and anonymous people in all fields. Its objective is to give as much importance to vegetables as to men, through an alchemy that is played out between the two with humor and poetry.

In parallel for orders, she produces series which are also exhibited, such as:

"Crossover" a series to promote the hiring of people with a disability in the company. “The Undocumented" a series in support of undocumented workers. "Guide dogs for the blind" for the Federation of guide dogs for the blind.

2012 the exhibition "Vegetables and Men" starts with the City of Paris.

Through her portraits of anonymous people and personalities such as Michel Onfray or Alain Passard, photographer Joëlle Dollé pays homage to vegetables. Accompanied by anecdotes on the symbols, proverbs, customs and beliefs around vegetables, these playful and poetic staging, with a few nods to popular culture, bring another look at our link to nature, the values of Earth.

The exhibition, after having started at the Jardin des Tuileries in Paris, at the Potager du Roi in Versailles and at the Chai de Bercy with the City of Paris, continues its journey, accompanied by the book, published by Éditions du Chêne and prefaced by Michel Onfray. The current program can be viewed on the exhibition website: www.deslegumesetdeshommes.fr

In recent years, Joëlle has been working on a new subject:

“My body, My life, My planet" a series on the naked body through each personality, beyond social and cultural borders, united in our diversity and our singularity.

“The Life of Flowers" her desire to show the life and power of flowers in homage to the painting of Joëlle Kem Lika.
