Presentation

Sculptor Jean-Pascal Najean started his career as a woodturner and carpenter. Each of his sculptures is a tribute to "the woman", and especially to his wife, Séverine, who works with him, finishing his sculptures. They both live in France (Vendée).

Jean-Pascal Najean's "girls" are not women, they are hyperboles of femininity. This is why the artist tries to simplify every detail, and to only render the essential. The forms and curves are distorted, they show attitudes, the lines are fluid to capture a fleeting moment in the body of the model or in the imagination of the artist. The sculptures have no faces, but their gaze seems to see inside us, as if they had eyes.
