Presentation
Androgynous characters, Claude Justamon's characters evoke the feeling of a potential elsewhere. Holders of dignity, strength, purity and serenity, they are also questioning. These white sculptures seem so supple and light that it is hard to guess they are made out of bronze. The bias of the artist is the expression of what in common, our similarities, bringing us closer and seems fundamental and timeless.
Wanting to be out of reach of the vortex of a world where the rule agitation and sometimes superficiality, without necessarily being disconnected, these things lead us to think, propose us an attitude, a journey.
The first approach of working the clay was, for Claude Justamon, ceramics and especially the technique of Raku. This ancient Japanese firing technique, closely related to Zen philosophy, adapts a ceramic with simple shapes and devoid of unnecessary sophistication. For fifteen years now, Claude Justamon is interested in contemporary figurative sculpture, with the same concern for sobriety.
