Presentation

Born in Marseille in 1975 Françoise lives and works in Carqueiranne, in the south of France.

Her parents transmitted her the taste for arts, her mother, a former student of Fine Arts in Marseille, her father, a landscape architect. She completed her studies with art history, visits to monuments, museums, sites so numerous in Provence that they are an eternal breeding ground for creators.

Françoise structures her canvases with thick, dark lines, contrasting with the softness and richness of the mixture of colors that complement them. A disturbing harmony emerges from her works, both delicate and powerful, almost brutal, which gives the characters, the elements, an ambiguous, dreamlike presence. Her art is not discreet, it imposes itself.

The subtlety of primitive art that interferes in her work is significantly linked to the influence of her many trips to Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, Mexico ...

Woman, fauna and flora are inexhaustible sources of inspiration in her work.

The scenes she creates arouse in the observer an equivocal feeling born of improbable situations such as one generally meets in the fantastic universe. Woman, one of her favorite subjects, generally dominates situations with detachment and casually. She is the master of situations like vamps were in the Roaring Twenties. It provokes us by its detachment, invites us to conquer it.

Françoise's works are clear, optimistic, accessible at first glance, yet her work, which is apparently refined, is in great demand. It is contemporary as much as primitive, hard in its structure but charged with tenderness in its completion.

A disturbing division between the work and the viewer.

Her first works, exhibited in the 2000s in Marseille, Aix en Provence, Saint-Cyr les Lecques, Toulon, Cassis ... had received a fervent reception from the public and received warm criticism in the media. But Françoise had to interrupt her work for a few years for personal reasons.

Today she is back, aware that her work is part of her life, she has expressed it again with her palette since 2019.

In 2020, Françoise Dedon exhibited for a month at the Cravero Gallery in Le Pradet, then for 6 months in an important solo exhibition in a prestigious gallery in Barcelona. This last exhibition was a success featured in many specialized publications.
