the artist began his artistic practice with painting and drawing. Her work is developed around textiles, embroidery, weaving with which she associates mixed techniques: ceramics, paper, thread ... She creates delicate, precise and graphic works: wall ornaments, mysterious shapes, colored rosaries, ...

An "imaginary ethnic reinvented" work

His pieces are abstract, contemporary and yet seem familiar to us. Are these handcrafted pieces brought back from distant lands or is it a subjective vision of a certain exoticism? This feeling of "déjà vu" gives her work an emotional charge.

The line, a major element in his creations, encloses and frees in turn phantom shapes, these small enigmatic white spaces which question at the same time the inside-outside, the full and the void. Open, closed, smooth, chaotic, repeated ... it invites new wanderings and a new form of writing in space. One could almost see there some sort of contemporary hieroglyphics between which would converse these strange trivial objects that she is fond of.

"My imagination and my desire for the exotic allow me to play around with reality. Looking at things the wrong way, upside down, giving them a new interpretation is a game I have been practicing for a long time, making everyday situations truly inspiring and unique materials.

My creative universe is anchored in an inspired imagination, of travels, of objects loved and patched up. We could see some utilitarian or cult objects from elsewhere, but these creations have no specific use. It's just an intuitive volume setting. I prefer evocation rather than representation, that leaves more room for mystery. "

Trained at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Nantes, Ema currently lives and works in Etrechy in Essonne.
