Presentation

Rostislav Kunovsky, who has lived and worked in France for over 40 years, is a Czech artist born Gottwaldov-Zlin in Czechoslovakia.

He studied architecture and fine arts at Université Paris 1 - Panthéon-Sorbonne, France. Kunovsky's work span a variety of media, including oil painting, etching, photography, graphics, monoprints, monotype, collage, and decollage. He has had a long love affair with trees depicting them in many of his artworks, using oil paint, inks and aerosol. Even though he is an abstract artist he doesn't avoid figuration, particularly in his urban landscapes. In his works, Kunovsky highlights the transience of life, its pulse, and the mysteries of human existence. He mixes, combines, and links various techniques easily. John Berger, a British art critic said that Kunovsky's artworks are not sinister; they are full of thousands lives and thousands solitudes. We recognize ourselves in them

Kunovsky Rosti has had over 25 solo exhibitions in Europe,  including in Paris, Marseille, Dijon, Geneva, London and Prague. He also participated in group exhibitions in Paris, Clamart, London and Barcelona. He lives in Châtenay-Malabry, France.
