Sabine Finkenauer

Sabine Finkenauer was born in Germany in 1961, she now lives in Barcelona since 1993. She studied at the School of Fine Arts of Munich from 1981 to 1988.

When we see her work we can quickly perceived the main inspirations of the artist. Calder, Miro, Paul Klee or Arp's work is reflected in her creations. whether it is collage, painting, tapestries or sculptures, Sabine Finkenauer creates a minimalist and colorful world.

Of an apparent simplicity, her pieces are more sophisticated than they appear. The artist plays with the perceptions and gives a playful aspect to her creations. They are perceive as a game, entertaining and light. It is this humor, childish or not, that is perceived in the paintings and that motivates the artist.

Always with an approach between intelligence and irony, Sabine Finkenauer assembles the elementary shapes for a well conceived result. A simplicity that is apparent is in no way due to a lack of technique or naiveness, but to the desire to strip the pieces to enhance the beauty of the surroundings. It is a synthesis that is made, where the excess has been removed but not forgotten.
Minimalism builts the structure of this fragile wold, but it is supported by extremely bright colors. Emiting a constant sense of gaiety and joviality when in front of the pieces.

The artist has held numerous exhibitions, alone or in group. Her creations have been exposed mainly in Europe, in Spain, France and Germany.
