Presentation

Olivia Guzmán began her studies at the Academia de San Carlos in 1976, first learning oil and watercolor techniques under Hermilo Castañeda, going on to carve pottery and wood together with techniques of restoration and application of gold leaf at the Social Security Center in San Jerónimo under Saúl Moreno and Cristina Molina. She finished in the National School of Painting, Sculpture and Engraving "La Esmeralda" with Jorge de Santiago and was certified as an art teacher.

During her career, Guzmán has worked with clay, cement, fiberglass, resins, bronze and marble, with more recent works that include chipped marble. Her works often have a "broken" or "incomplete" aspect, which are now considered trademarks and only recognized in her work. She has had more than 42 individual exhibitions and her works have appeared in more than 60 collective shows. Olivia's works have also been exhibited in South Korea, Spain, and the United States. Her work can be found in individual and institutional collections in Mexico and abroad, in countries such as the United States, Canada, Indonesia, Malta, Chile, the Cayman Islands, Switzerland, Israel, and Bulgaria.
