Shray was born in 1963 in Lynchburg, VA, United States.
She studied at the Lynchburg School of Fine Arts from 1983 to 1987.
Since 2004 she has devoted herself exclusively to painting.
Shray's reflection is a quest for lightness, for the weightlessness of the soul relieved of its earthly contingencies… free soul?… She offers us through her works a succession of moments reflecting various states of this quest and in filigree that of our own humanity ...
