Pablo Atchugarry

Pablo Atchugarry is a Uruguayan artist whose work is present in the most important collections across the planet, notably in the National Museum of Visual Arts of Montevideo and the Pérez Art Museum in Miami.

Born on August 23, 1954 in Montevideo, Uruguay, Pablo Atchugarry expresses at a very young age a strong interest in painting before evolving progressively towards sculpture.

During the 1970s, the artist experimented with different materials and traveled a lot, especially in Italy where he discovered the mythical Carrara marble quarries in 1979.

In 1982, Pablo Atchugarry decided to settle in Italy and knew a fast evolution of his career. After several exhibitions around the world, he won the Michelangelo Prize in 2002 and received the same year an order from the Princely family of Monaco for the commemorations of the 50th anniversary of Prince Rainier's coronation.

In 2003, he was selected to exhibit at the 50th Venice Biennale - International Art Exhibition where he presented the sculpture 'Soñando la paz', a monumental set of eight pieces, five in Carrara marble and three in Bardiglio della Garfagnana marble. Since then, Pablo Atchugarry's work has been collected in the most prestigious collections in the world, both private and public.
