After nearly 50 years of career, Genevieve Claisse is an iconic figure of abstract geometry.
Born in the Nord French department in 1935, she has built an international career, with an unconventional personality, absolute rigor and no compromises regarding her work. She established her own style, her own approach and an undeniably modern and innovative vision of the world. Playing with shapes, colors, and perspectives in subtle ways, she has constantly shown viewers life "and not beauty that does not mean anything", as the artist says.
She has had numerous shows in the major galleries and museums in the world and has built a remarkable body of work since the ‘60s. The show devoted to her at the Wagner Gallery in Le Touquet in parallel with an exhibition at the Museum of Cambrai and a large retrospective to come at the Cateau Cambrésis Matisse Museum pay tribute to her immense talent.
