Presentation
Born in 1952, Günther Förg was a German abstract artist. Förg's multimedia œuvre encompasses sculptures, paintings and photographs which he uses as a means of investigating modernity.
Drawing inspiration from American abstract artists and Bauhaus architecture, Förg's geometrical constructions range from black monochrome pieces to highly saturated works.
In 1996 Förg received the coveted Wolfgang Hahn prize. His works have been widely exhibited and can be found in the permanent collections of several established institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the Tate Modern, London and the Museum für Moderne Kunst, Frankfurt.
