Emmanuelle Moch

Native of Caen, Emmanuelle lives and works in Montpellier since 1993.

She trained at the Beaux-arts de Caen in Normandy, then studied "art history" at the Paul Valéry Faculty.

In 1996, she decided to present her first inks as part of

exhibitions in Montpellier.

From that year, Emmanuelle presents her work regularly alone or in partnership with Gisèle M textile artist and Philippe Godelle musician as well as artist friends (visual artists and musicians) met on her way.

In parallel with her work as an artist, Emmanuelle teaches plastic arts in private lessons, and has been leading workshops for several years in the Montpellier region.

From 2009 she became a member of the Taylor Foundation in Paris.

Artistic approach

“I often paint in ink and acrylic like watercolors (that is to say with little material) because they give me a fluidity of gesture. I chose a form of writing with abstract appearances, because that's where I can build fields of multiple perspectives and emotions as I please.

The gesture that I practice and that could be described as calligraphic comes up very often in my drawings and paintings. I like to paint a dynamic and luminous space constantly recalling the living, the harmony of the cosmos and its chaos.

What inspires me, beyond cultures, multiple ways of thinking, is our individual memory, in the face of collective memories (of men and of the universe), which agitates us, transforms us and questions us.

My painting is the result of a lively movement (reminiscent of the living) but frozen in a precise time which becomes a trace, a memory.
