Die Brücke
Die Brücke (El Puente) fue un grupo de artistas expresionistas alemanes formado en Dresde a principios del siglo XX. Entre sus miembros se encontraban artistas como Erich Heckel, Fritz Bleyl, Karl Schmidt-Rottluff, Emil Nolde y Ernst Ludwig Kirchner. El grupo cambió para siempre el curso de la historia del arte al contribuir en gran medida a la creación del expresionismo, un movimiento artístico modernista que pretendía presentar el mundo de forma subjetiva para evocar estados de ánimo o ideas.
Comparado a veces con el grupo de arte francés contemporáneo de los Fauves, Die Brücke se interesaba por el primitivismo y la expresión de las emociones utilizando colores vibrantes y no naturalistas. Sus miembros eran reacios a la abstracción total, prefiriendo la figuración y una técnica de dibujo cruda. Los miembros del grupo rechazaban la sociedad en la que se habían criado, incluidos sus valores, doctrinas y el arte que producía. Rechazaban el impresionismo, el movimiento artístico que se estaba imponiendo en Europa en aquella época, por considerarlo un movimiento burgués impulsado por el clasicismo, la moral cristiana y la riqueza.
