Suprematismo
El suprematismo, llamado así por el artista vanguardista ruso Kasimir Malevich, es un movimiento clave del arte moderno. Malevich creó el movimiento a partir del estilo abstracto que había desarrollado a partir de 1913, que utilizaba formas geométricas simples y una paleta de colores restringida.
La primera exposición suprematista se celebró en 1915 en San Petersburgo, y se llamó 0,10. En ella se expusieron 35 obras de Malévich, incluido su legendario Cuadrado negro. Malevich también publicó un libro en 1927 titulado El mundo no objetivo, considerado actualmente como uno de los escritos más influyentes sobre el arte abstracto. En él, afirmaba que la abstracción extrema que empleaba en sus obras era un intento de "liberar desesperadamente al arte del peso muerto del mundo real". Las características clave de las obras suprematistas de Malevich son las formas geométricas que parecen flotar sobre un fondo blanco, y la idea del color ligado al espacio.
El suprematismo ha inspirado a muchos artistas desde su creación en 1913, como László Moholy-Nagy y El Lissitzky.
