Presentation

Catherine Brost is a French painter born in 1956. She currently lives and works in Nantes.
From an early age Catherine Brost started an artistic education with a teacher of fine arts in Paris. Later on she trained with Yann Lefeuvre who taught her the basics of watercolor and of drawing landscapes.

Catherine Brost is influenced by the work of Turner and Zao Wu Ki, according to her the creative process is just as important as the final product. Without any titles and up to the interpretation of the observer the paintings of Catherine Brost are as magical as the process through which they are created.

Catherine Brost generally prefers abstract painting, because it allows her, according to the artist to reach more people and to achieve an almost universal degree of expression. With an abstract subject the painting does not have any limits or frames and this is exactly what Catherine Brost likes about it.

All of her paintings have one thing in common, their creative process. Indeed, Catherine Brost only works with natural pigments that she makes herself before starting her pieces.
Catherine Brost's main technique, the pattern is just a support for her to development and expand. Painting exist by and for itself.
