“Through abstraction and cubist fragmentation, I use bold colour and form to reflect emotion and contemporary culture.”
Biography
Lanre Adefioye is a contemporary artist whose practice blends abstract cubism with elements of pop art, informed by visual motifs drawn from African cultural heritage. Through bold geometric forms, layered compositions, and vibrant colour palettes, his work invites viewers into spaces of introspection, emotional connection, and purposeful reflection.
At the core of Lanre's practice is an exploration of identity, emotion, and modern life. He creates dynamic compositions that reflect multiple perspectives and the complexity of contemporary experience. His work balances structure and intuition, offering open-ended narratives that encourage personal interpretation.
Lanre works primarily with acrylic on canvas and wood, as well as three-dimensional wooden sculpture, while also creating digital works that extend his visual language across contemporary formats. His multidisciplinary background in industrial design and graphic design contributes to the strong sense of rhythm, balance, and visual clarity present throughout his practice.
His artistic journey began as a teenager following a transformative studio visit with the late artist David H. Dale, an experience that solidified his commitment to art and shaped his creative direction. Over the years, his work has been exhibited in galleries and art fairs, and for more than a decade he has focused on online distribution, allowing his work to reach a global audience directly.
