Cécile Coutant

Born in 1964, Cécile Coutant is a French painter. She started her career in Nantes as a designer of wedding dresses and children's clothes. She continued in this path in Lisbonne, where she created her own brand. Back in France, she settled in Paris, and started an artistic training in the Libre des Peintres Studio in Yvelines, and in the studio of Géraldine Gall. She then began a training in plastic arts at the Sorbonne and created her own studio.

She draws her inspiritation from the living and the search of emotions. The artist's world is marked by expressionism, focusing on the body, playing on the contrasts and the colors. She likes big framings of close ups of human faces or animal heads. For this colorist, it is not only urgent to paint, but it is also legitimate to be in the sensuality and the shimmering of colors. She seeks the confrontation with the form and provokes the accident in her compositions to catch up at the last moment.

Cécile Coutant's work is regularly exhibited in France. The artist has also exhibited her work in Brazil and Portugal.
