Biography

Emilienne Moreau-Dechelle was born in Vendée - France. Her childhood was spent in a cinema-orientated environment. Her early training was that of a wigmaker...

In 1974 she began her career as a painter. She also developed an interest for calligraphy and sign writing, and is part ofthe lettrist movement.

In 1991, the Egyptian Cultural Centre in Paris organised a specific exhibition for her (Arabesques). She has displayed her paintings in Canada, USA and Japan.

In 1992 she created the "Graphoscenies", a pictural composition where the "mise en scene" reminds her of scenes of her childhhod. Her paintings are strangely lyrical.

In 1998, to complete her course she studied Jugienne Symbolism.

She leans towards the Orient especially China, Hong Kong and Shanghai, where she exhibits her paintings. Tradition, gesture, artistic values and human feelings are contained in and form the basis of
