Biography

Born in 1963, Paule Riche studied art history in Paris, he got his diploma from the National Superior School of Fine Arts and became a Fine Arts teacher. During this period, he practiced sculpture after having experimented with different fields of art.The artist abandoned this life in 1996 and settled in Serres in the Haute Alpes.

Monet's waterlilies were a revelation for the artist and he particularly loved the vibrations of color in Joan Mitchell's work and paradoxically in Zao Wou Ki's work, which led him to work with all the shades of black of Chinese ink on rice paper.

According to Paule Riche, when you become a painter you chose to live a certain life style, it is a commitment which became little by little a need for him. His pieces are not abstract, nor figurative, they are described by the artist as landscaped abstractions, interior, intimate landscapes in which everyone can navigate, wonder, dream and maybe find one's inner self.

Paule Riche's works makes us believe in the idea that art and beauty can save the world. Lately the artist explores the complex relationship between paint and music and began a new project around Bach's Cello Suites, in collaboration with musicians.
