Biography

Gladys Liez was born in 1963, she is a French sculptor. She practices brassware, an artistic work of metal, a practice that she discovered thanks to an internship she made with Frederic Barnley, a student of Serge Mouille.Today, she remakes and wroughts the luminaries of the famous French designer and works for La Maison Chéret, an agency specializing in liturgical art. She creates her own pieces in parallel.

Brassware is the art of beating a metal sheet with a hammer, to create a sculpture without welding. Gladys Liez practices this art with patience and energy, she seeks to create light pieces. The treatment of the material plays a main role in her artistic research. Her pieces have an aged look, a real soul, without losing their modernity.

Gladys Liez's work has been exhibited in different shows and at the Carrousel du Louvre on several occasions. In 2009, she received the Liliane Bettencourt Prize for her work in 2013, she received the regional prize by the Art Ateliers of France for a vase she called "Voluptueuse".
