Biography

What encourages my work every now and then is a quotation by Alfred Hitchcock: „The Love om Imagination is more decisive than any moral.“ In my opinion the best pictures starts in your head. What finally matters is to make them real.

Wolfgang Eichler was born in Wattenscheid in the Ruhr Valley 1954 and started out working as a social padagogue. 1982-87 he studied photography at the famous Folkwangschule in Essen, where he was strongly influenced and impressed by his professor Inge Oswald. She taught him that the position of a womans hand can be more erotic than her naked breasts.

After his first book „Erotic Photographs“, he was discoverd by the publisher Peter W Czernich, who provided a forum for his sensual provocative pictures in his magazines „O“, „skin Two“ and „Marquis“. After that other publishing houses were intersted too and Wolfgang Eichler worked for „Penthouse“, „Playboy“, „Men’s Health“, „New Look“, „Skylight“ and the french „Photo“. As opposed to most „erotic photographers“, he was able to combine irony and sex without loosing any of sensual expression of his pictures. He told stories with his photo arrangements and has established himself as a „photographer of erotic fantasies“.
