Mauro Capelli is an Italian painter born in 1959 in the area of Bergamo. He is a self-taught artist, he started to paint in the 90s.
His style is mostly figurative, which a tendency sometimes towards the limits of abstraction. The research on matter plays a main role in his work. He uses oil paint combined with an external plaster on canvas, done with a knife and a brush, to give relief to his compositions. Mauro Capelli has a predilection for landscapes, but he does not hesitate to paint still life and interior paintings as well.
He exhibited his work for the first time in 1993 in his hometown, Ubiale Clanezzo, city in which he currently lives. He did numerous exhibitions afterwards, in Italy and abroad, in France, Belgium and Germany.
