Biography

Alberto Ascaso was born in Zaragoza on May 26, 1963. Around 1979, he began modeling.

In 1982 he started studying at the School of Fine Arts of Zaragoza, where he stayed three years. In 1985 he graduated in "Magisterio" (Elementary education) in the discipline of Humanities at the University of Zaragoza.

Alberto Ascaso decided to devote himself professionally to sculpture and from that year until 1994 he worked in the worshop "Taller libre de Escultura del Antiguo Matadero Zaragoza". In 1987 he met Manuel Arcon, and through this friendship he was able to consolidate his sculptural vocation and expand his knowledge. In the same year he spent a month in the studio of Carlo Nicoli in Carrara (Italy).

In 1994 he opened his own workshop in Zaragoza. In 2005 he received the DEA by the University of Zaragoza for his research work in "La Posmodernidad en el Arte" (Postmodernism in Art) and, subsequently, four years later, he completed his PhD thesis about creative experience and he obtained the title of Doctor in Philosophy.

He began learning the technique of etching with Natalio Bayo's help and advice. In 2013 he concluded the project Voluntad de suerte, a series composed of 15 large sculptures, which was completed with the book " Mi voluntad de suerte", published in 2014. As a sculptor, Ascaso has organized several exhibitions in Spain and abroad and has been recognized for his public work.
