Presentation
Linda Coppens is a Belgian artist whose colorful abstract paintings reflect her own quiet battle against the increasingly frenetic world in which we live. She mobilizes color, texture and gesture as a structure for the creation of compositions that evoke a feeling of emotional balance in the viewer. Fascinated by the human mind with all its complex mysteries and by the immense beauty of nature, the artist finds inspiration and process in life itself. A process-oriented painter, Coppens never has a plan and never works from sketches. She simply begins painting and lets a mark, shape or color suggest the next color or gesture. Born in Aalst, she moved to Brussels, where she studied at VUB and obtained a master's degree in psychology. Coppens remained interested in art and, after twenty years, decided to devote herself fully to it. She began formal training at the Academy of Arts in Liedekerke, where she obtained her certificate in drawing and painting and discovered her passion for abstract art. Linda Coppens spends most of her time in Spain.
