Biography

Edmund de Waal is a British artist and writer known for his work in ceramics and installations. Born in 1964 in Nottingham, England, de Waal comes from a renowned family of artists. He studied English at the University of Cambridge and ceramics at the University of Derby. De Waal's artistic practice explores the relationship between space, memory, and objects. He is widely recognized for his minimalist porcelain vessels, often arranged in large installations that engage with architectural spaces. De Waal's work is influenced by his interest in Japanese pottery and the philosophy of wabi-sabi. He has exhibited his art internationally and has written several critically acclaimed books, including "The Hare with Amber Eyes" and "The White Road."
