Paisajistas abstractos
En la historia del arte abstracto se encuentran sus orígenes en la primera mitad del siglo XX. Sin embargo, se puede argumentar que la capacidad de representar el paisaje con un hiperrealismo meticuloso no es poca cosa y que, por tanto, la mayor parte del arte paisajístico es abstracto en algún sentido. Obras como Impresión, amanecer (1872), de Claude Monet, y Huertos en flor, Louveciennes (1872), de Camille Pissarro, fueron algunas de las primeras pinturas impresionistas que se expusieron, y la primera de ellas fue incluso la razón por la que el movimiento de la década de 1870 se denominó así. Los impresionistas se alejaron del realismo y utilizaron objetos y lugares todavía reconocibles para mostrar su uso del color y la luz, capturando una instantánea del paisaje. En el momento en que Pablo Picasso representa su obra, Paisaje (1958), se abandona cualquier intento de representar la "semejanza" y la simplicidad de la vaguedad transmite un paisaje creado únicamente mediante la forma y el color. La libertad de renunciar a los límites de la vista ha inspirado sin duda a posteriores paisajistas abstractos, como Franck Dupire, cuyas obras pueden descubrirse en Artsper.
