Claude Guillaumin is a French artist, born in 1946. A famous fashion photographer during the 70's and 80's, Claude Guillaumin collaborated with several beauty magazines, like Elle, Cosmopolitan, Glamour…
In 1974, he is the one who realized the Elite calender. Claude Guillaumin also did a famous series on New York in the 70's whereas in 2000's the artist turned towards feminine figures.
Claude decided to stop taking pictures of models and started shooting ordinary women. This was a true challenge for him, but he was deeply convinced that one can't find real beauty in models.
In his vast production, Claude Guillaumin went back to the Pop Art and Andy Warhol years and created a series on dustbins. He took pictures of the dustbin's contents in New York by giving them a new and unexpected look.
A fan of New York, according to him this is where he learned everything about his job, Claude Guillaumin has turned towards a more urban photography today, questioning the relationship between man and the city.
