Biography
I've been from Madrid since 1944, but my artistic thoughts are rooted in San Sebastián, and for that reason, San Sebastián is central to my work. This is evident both in my Zuriurdin series, dedicated to the white and blue colors that fill my vision, and in the series I'm developing on the Zurriola breakwater—rocks and concrete structures where the geometric forms confirm my training as an architect (Madrid School of Architecture, 1971), a profession reflected in my work. That's what people say about me, and that's what I strive for.
I compensate for the lack of a sea here with coastal landscapes, and even when the sea isn't visible, I feel it in every brushstroke.
Similarly, using mixed media, collage, and photography, I create medium-format works that reflect my experiences, my ideas, my perspective on life. These become life memories in my artist's books and object books.
