Biography

Abdul Rahman Katanani is a Palestinian Lebanese multidisciplinary artist whose practice explores displacement, memory, freedom, and the experience of life in refugee communities. Working across sculpture, installation, painting, assemblage, and graffiti, he transforms everyday and discarded materials into expressive works that reflect on Palestinian identity and the experience of exile. Corrugated metal, wire, clothing, kitchen objects, and other familiar materials become important elements in his work, carrying personal and collective memories of displacement.

Born in 1983 in Sabra Refugee Camp in Beirut, Katanani studied Fine Arts at the Lebanese University, graduating in 2007, and later completed a Master of Fine Arts in 2012. As a third-generation Palestinian refugee whose family originates from Jaffa, his personal and family history has strongly influenced his artistic practice. His early experience working with his father, a carpenter, also shaped his interest in materials and construction. Katanani has exhibited extensively in Lebanon, Europe, and the Arab world, and currently lives and works in Beirut.and remembrance.
