Biography
Raed Issa is a Palestinian artist whose work explores loss, vulnerability, memory, and the emotional effects of conflict and displacement. Working primarily through painting and drawing, he often focuses on the human figure, presenting bodies that appear isolated, fragmented, or emotionally exposed. His works approach political realities through intimate and personal imagery, creating space for reflection on the experiences of individuals living through violence, uncertainty, and prolonged restriction.
Born in 1975 in Al-Bureij Refugee Camp in Gaza, Issa studied Computer Science at Al-Aqsa University before developing his artistic practice through workshops and independent study. From 1999 to 2001, he participated in the Summer Academy of the Khaled Shoman Foundation in Amman under the supervision of Marwan Kassab-Bachi. He later founded the Fine Art Program of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society in Gaza and became a founding member of Eltiqa, a contemporary art collective based in Gaza. Issa has exhibited internationally and continues working on his artistic practice from his art studio in Marseille, France.
