Description
The artist explores human nature with a mischievous gaze. She composes here a singular portrait where the precise line of Indian ink meets the material.
The character asserts itself in the center of a heterogeneous assemblage. Fragments of administrative papers, stamps, and handwritten writings form a narrative background.
The silhouette comes alive through the use of collage. Scraps of colored fabrics dress the body, mixing shades of blue and green. A small dog follows the protagonist's steps, adding a touch of irony to the scene.
The work on line is sharp and direct. Every detail, from round glasses to bare feet, emphasizes a derisive and poetic approach.
This multidisciplinary composition transforms everyday elements into a visual narrative. The paper support becomes a playground where drawing and textile intertwine.
The whole concludes with fine graphic details and superimpositions of old documents.
Presentation
It is by casting his mischievous, sarcastic and poetic gaze on this strange human species that is ours, that slightly zany characters will be revealed, through a paper collage.
A quick sketch...
A very precise line in pen and Indian ink, everything is said.
Derision is the key word.
A graduate of the Ecole Supérieure des arts Décoratifs in Strasbourg, Dominique Pourchet is a multidisciplinary artist, she has explored textile art and assemblage for many years, without ever abandoning illustration drawing.
She uses fabrics and papers like others use paint.
