Abstraction of Love II, 2020

Tamara Bakhshinyan

This compelling mixed-media artwork is a powerful amalgamation of textures, forms, and colors contained within a structured vertical frame. The piece is divided into two distinct sections, each contributing to the overall narrative and visual impact. The upper segment commands attention with its rich, textured background, dominated by a juxtaposition of abstract shapes and fragmented patterns. Dominant hues of red, black, and white interplay with muted earth tones, creating a vivid yet harmonious composition. The artist has employed various materials and techniques, including collage and paint, to evoke a sense of depth and complexity. Knitted patterns and intricate motifs peek through the layers, suggesting an exploration of both order and chaos. The sporadic use of text and numbers, partially obscured, hints at a cryptic message or forgotten memory embedded within the tapestry of the artwork. Below, the lower compartment contains a trio of antique keys, meticulously suspended against a backdrop of aged script and coarse fabric. Each key, adorned with a striking red seal, evokes elements of mystery and nostalgia, inviting viewers to ponder their symbolic meaning. This section provides a tactile contrast to the upper part, grounding the abstract upper half with tangible, historical artifacts. This artwork stands out for its seamless fusion of abstract and tactile elements, engaging viewers on both a visual and intellectual level. It’s a compelling piece that tells a story of the interplay between memory, mystery, and materiality. The precise execution and thoughtful arrangement of diverse elements make it a remarkable and intriguing work that commands and sustains attention.
