Description

The painting titled "Evening near the Church" portrays a serene and picturesque landscape at dusk, featuring a beautiful church reflected in the calm waters of a nearby river. The composition exudes a peaceful atmosphere, with warm, rich colors dominating the scene as the day transitions into evening. The artist masterfully captures the interplay of light and shadow, creating a striking contrast between the bright, glowing hues of the setting sun and the cool, tranquil tones of the water. The church, with its distinctive red brick walls and green domes, stands as the central focus of the painting. Its architecture conveys a sense of history, tradition, and spirituality, suggesting that it has been a quiet witness to the passage of time in the surrounding countryside. The golden light of the setting sun bathes the church, enhancing its warm tones and casting long shadows on the ground. The domes glisten with touches of light, symbolizing hope and divine presence. The surrounding landscape is equally captivating, with trees and small houses dotting the background. The trees, painted in shades of orange, pink, and purple, suggest the vibrant colors of autumn, adding to the overall warmth of the scene. The distant hills and sky are painted in soft pastel shades, creating a harmonious backdrop that emphasizes the tranquility of the moment. The river in the foreground reflects the church and the surrounding landscape, creating a mirror-like effect that adds depth and balance to the composition. The water is painted in deep blues and purples, contrasting beautifully with the warm colors of the land. The reflections create a sense of unity between the sky, the church, and the earth, symbolizing the interconnectedness of nature and spirituality.Through "Evening near the Church," the artist conveys a message of peace, reflection, and the timeless beauty of sacred spaces in nature. The painting invites viewers to pause and appreciate the quiet moments of life, encouraging them to reflect on their own spiritual journeys. The church serves as a beacon of faith and hope, standing strong and steady amid the changing seasons and the passage of time. The artist's use of bold, textured brushstrokes and vibrant colors brings the scene to life, evoking a sense of warmth and comfort. The painting celebrates the harmony between human-made structures and the natural world, highlighting the enduring presence of faith and tradition in rural communities.Ultimately, "Evening near the Church" is a celebration of peace, beauty, and the connection between nature, spirituality, and human life. It reminds viewers of the importance of finding moments of stillness and reflection in the midst of everyday life, offering a glimpse into a serene world where time seems to stand still.

Born in 1960 in Konotop, Sumy Region, Ukraine.
1984 - Graduated from Yuriev-Polsky Pedagogical School (Department of Art and Graphics).
Worked as a drawing and drafting teacher, painting and wood carving instructor, artist-designer.
Held the position of Chief Artist in Konotop.
Since 2000 - Independent artist.

Works by Boris Serdyuk are held in museums in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions, as well as in private collections in Ukraine, European countries, the USA, Israel, and other countries.
In 2018, the artist entered the global art space of the creative platform in New York, where seven of his works were included in the catalog "Painting & Graphics."
Currently lives and works in Kremenchuk, Poltava Region.
Took his first steps in the world of visual arts within the walls of his local school, then studied at Yuriev-Polsky Pedagogical School. After graduation, he returned to his homeland and started working as a drawing and painting teacher.
Later, he realized that for an artist, creative freedom is essential. Thus, after seventeen years of teaching, he left the profession to focus on his creative work. The artist is content to have the opportunity to engage in his beloved craft, which he considers the meaning of his life.
His journey had its ups and downs, victories in competitions, and recognition from admirers, yet he never ceased his determined quest for his artistic path. In ancient times, "serdyuk" referred to professional infantrymen in the Cossack ranks. This heritage likely passed down not only the surname but also many Cossack traits to the artist, including hard work, modesty, and human dignity.
Boris Serdyuk creates in genres such as portrait, landscape, and thematic composition. His works are varied, reflecting the artist's impressions of the places he visited. Among them are picturesque corners of Kremenchuk and Dnipro views, urban and maritime landscapes, the grandeur of the Carpathian Mountains, and cozy Ukrainian villages. His canvases are intriguing in terms of color and relatively compositionally perfect, revealing the life of nature at the time of their execution.
There are also commissioned portraits and paintings, such as "Shevchenko in Baturyn." He spent over a year working on it, studying the architecture of the former hetman capital. However, the artist prefers to work swiftly, capturing the vision of a painting before it fades from his mind and before the sun changes its angle and shadows. On average, according to the artist, he spends about 40 minutes on a single landscape.
Boris successfully combines a poetic perception of the world and a deep understanding of nature with brilliant artistic execution. His paintings exude a special light and a delicate sense of nature – vivid colors on the canvas resonate with intermediate tones. The artist has abandoned contours, replacing them with separate and contrasting brushstrokes; his paintings amaze with colors, not only their diversity but also the amount of substance applied to the canvas – vibrant, vivid, voluminous.
Describing the master's works is a challenging task. Boris Serdyuk's works are special – they are painted with soul. One must see and feel the wonderful harmony of nature on the artist's canvases firsthand and touch the great mystery of Art.
