Description
AAA4757
The oil painting on Cardboard titled "Winter Fairy Tale in the Forest" immerses the viewer in a magical woodland scene where the enchantment of winter breathes life into every brushstroke. With bold, expressive textures and a rich palette of natural tones, this painting invites the observer to step into a serene world where snow blankets the forest floor and sunlight filters softly through evergreen boughs. It is a composition that balances tranquility with movement, and stillness with vibrancy, conjuring the feeling of wandering through a quiet, snow-covered forest just after a fresh snowfall. The composition leads the eye down a snow-covered path that cuts through the middle of the forest, subtly guiding the viewer deeper into the scene. This path, painted in soft whites, icy blues, and delicate purples, meanders naturally between the towering trees, its subtle curves and shadows suggesting both physical depth and the emotional draw of exploration. The snow is rendered with confident, impasto strokes—thick, layered applications of oil paint that give the surface a tactile, almost sculptural quality. These textures not only bring the snow to life but also capture the way winter light dances across its uneven surface. Surrounding the path are dense, majestic trees—spruce, fir, and birch—that rise vertically and frame the scene with their varying forms. Their branches, dusted lightly with snow, are depicted in a range of greens from deep forest hues to lighter, mossy tones, interwoven with touches of ochre, burnt sienna, and violet. The artist's layering of colors adds a dynamic interplay between light and shadow, evoking the shifting glow of a low winter sun filtering through the canopy. One of the most captivating features of the painting is the contrast between the cool snow and the warm undertones found in the forest. The trees are painted with rich, earthy strokes of green, brown, and violet, providing warmth and grounding to the otherwise chilly atmosphere. Touches of lavender and magenta in the sky and tree trunks suggest the tender kiss of dawn or twilight, enhancing the fairy tale mood. These colors are not just decorative—they are emotive, pulling the viewer into a contemplative state, as if walking through a storybook landscape where time seems to pause.

Born in 1960 in Konotop, Sumy Region, Ukraine.

Worked as a drawing and drafting teacher, painting and wood carving instructor, artist-designer.

Since 2000 - Independent artist.

Works by Boris Serdyuk are held in museums in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions, as well as in private collections in Ukraine, European countries, the USA, Israel, and other countries.
In 2018, the artist entered the global art space of the creative platform in New York, where seven of his works were included in the catalog "Painting & Graphics."
Currently lives and works in Kremenchuk, Poltava Region.
Took his first steps in the world of visual arts within the walls of his local school, then studied at Yuriev-Polsky Pedagogical School. After graduation, he returned to his homeland and started working as a drawing and painting teacher.
Later, he realized that for an artist, creative freedom is essential. Thus, after seventeen years of teaching, he left the profession to focus on his creative work. The artist is content to have the opportunity to engage in his beloved craft, which he considers the meaning of his life.
His journey had its ups and downs, victories in competitions, and recognition from admirers, yet he never ceased his determined quest for his artistic path. In ancient times, "serdyuk" referred to professional infantrymen in the Cossack ranks. This heritage likely passed down not only the surname but also many Cossack traits to the artist, including hard work, modesty, and human dignity.
Boris Serdyuk creates in genres such as portrait, landscape, and thematic composition. His works are varied, reflecting the artist's impressions of the places he visited. Among them are picturesque corners of Kremenchuk and Dnipro views, urban and maritime landscapes, the grandeur of the Carpathian Mountains, and cozy Ukrainian villages. His canvases are intriguing in terms of color and relatively compositionally perfect, revealing the life of nature at the time of their execution.
There are also commissioned portraits and paintings, such as "Shevchenko in Baturyn." He spent over a year working on it, studying the architecture of the former hetman capital. However, the artist prefers to work swiftly, capturing the vision of a painting before it fades from his mind and before the sun changes its angle and shadows. On average, according to the artist, he spends about 40 minutes on a single landscape.
Boris successfully combines a poetic perception of the world and a deep understanding of nature with brilliant artistic execution. His paintings exude a special light and a delicate sense of nature – vivid colors on the canvas resonate with intermediate tones. The artist has abandoned contours, replacing them with separate and contrasting brushstrokes; his paintings amaze with colors, not only their diversity but also the amount of substance applied to the canvas – vibrant, vivid, voluminous.
Describing the master's works is a challenging task. Boris Serdyuk's works are special – they are painted with soul. One must see and feel the wonderful harmony of nature on the artist's canvases firsthand and touch the great mystery of Art.
