Description

The Oil painting on Cardboard titled “Golden trees and the blue horizon" presents a vivid and expressive landscape where the brilliance of autumn meets the boundless expanse of sky and water. This work is not merely a depiction of nature but a lyrical celebration of the harmony between earth and sky, where colors clash yet unite in perfect balance. The artist has employed bold strokes and a rich palette to capture a fleeting moment in time, offering a window into a world both vibrant and contemplative. At the forefront of the scene, golden grasses stretch across the land, their tones ranging from warm ochre and amber to luminous patches of green. These strokes of color are not static; they appear alive, as though moved by the breath of an autumn wind, swaying gently in rhythm with the natural world. The land is textured and uneven, layered with thick impasto that gives a tactile quality, inviting the viewer to almost feel the crispness of the grass beneath their feet. The centerpiece of the painting is a striking tree adorned in brilliant red foliage, its leaves blazing like flames against the backdrop of cooler tones. The crimson hues stand as a symbol of autumn's fleeting passion, a reminder of both vitality and impermanence. The red leaves, applied with expressive, almost chaotic brushstrokes, suggest motion and energy, as though they are trembling in the wind or preparing to fall. To the right, darker trees and shrubs, painted in deep browns and muted purples, create a contrast, grounding the composition and balancing the fiery brightness of the central tree. Behind this vivid foreground, the vast expanse of water stretches across the canvas. The lake or sea, painted in layered shades of blue—from deep ultramarine to soft azure—reflects the calm and steady essence of nature. The surface of the water is serene, with only subtle variations of brushwork suggesting ripples or gentle movement. This calmness contrasts beautifully with the dynamic energy of the land and trees, offering a moment of stillness amid vibrancy. Above it all, the horizon rises into a vast sky painted in shifting blues, violets, and touches of pale lavender. The clouds are thick yet fluid, rendered with swirling strokes that suggest both heaviness and lightness, permanence and change. They stretch across the sky like sculpted forms, carrying with them the sense of endless space and timelessness.

Works by Boris Serdyuk are held in museums in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions, as well as in private collections in Ukraine, European countries, the USA, Israel, and other countries.
In 2018, the artist entered the global art space of the creative platform in New York, where seven of his works were included in the catalog "Painting & Graphics."
Currently lives and works in Kremenchuk, Poltava Region.
Took his first steps in the world of visual arts within the walls of his local school, then studied at Yuriev-Polsky Pedagogical School. After graduation, he returned to his homeland and started working as a drawing and painting teacher.
Later, he realized that for an artist, creative freedom is essential. Thus, after seventeen years of teaching, he left the profession to focus on his creative work. The artist is content to have the opportunity to engage in his beloved craft, which he considers the meaning of his life.
His journey had its ups and downs, victories in competitions, and recognition from admirers, yet he never ceased his determined quest for his artistic path. In ancient times, "serdyuk" referred to professional infantrymen in the Cossack ranks. This heritage likely passed down not only the surname but also many Cossack traits to the artist, including hard work, modesty, and human dignity.
Boris Serdyuk creates in genres such as portrait, landscape, and thematic composition. His works are varied, reflecting the artist's impressions of the places he visited. Among them are picturesque corners of Kremenchuk and Dnipro views, urban and maritime landscapes, the grandeur of the Carpathian Mountains, and cozy Ukrainian villages. His canvases are intriguing in terms of color and relatively compositionally perfect, revealing the life of nature at the time of their execution.
There are also commissioned portraits and paintings, such as "Shevchenko in Baturyn." He spent over a year working on it, studying the architecture of the former hetman capital. However, the artist prefers to work swiftly, capturing the vision of a painting before it fades from his mind and before the sun changes its angle and shadows. On average, according to the artist, he spends about 40 minutes on a single landscape.
Boris successfully combines a poetic perception of the world and a deep understanding of nature with brilliant artistic execution. His paintings exude a special light and a delicate sense of nature – vivid colors on the canvas resonate with intermediate tones. The artist has abandoned contours, replacing them with separate and contrasting brushstrokes; his paintings amaze with colors, not only their diversity but also the amount of substance applied to the canvas – vibrant, vivid, voluminous.
Describing the master's works is a challenging task. Boris Serdyuk's works are special – they are painted with soul. One must see and feel the wonderful harmony of nature on the artist's canvases firsthand and touch the great mystery of Art.
